MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
- Receives, inspects and issues the construction materials that are entering into Gaza through Kerem Shalom based on the daily coordination requirements;
- Reports any discrepancies between the load notes and the cargo to the Project coordinator and convoy if required the confiscated extra materials to Karni or Rafah warehouses.
- Ensures the implementation of daily reconstruction team operations and maintain a reception and issuance tracker related to the construction materials. Report on daily basis to the reconstruction team based in Gaza Field Office.
- Convoys the trucks loaded with construction materials to the construction sites of the concrete factories. Undertakes random checks at the construction sites and factories to monitor the good handling and usage construction materials.
- Report any attempts from the contractor/ director of factories to misuse/misappropriate the construction materials by checking/verifying that the available stocks in situ and the quality of materials correspond to what was initially issued the day before.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

- Two years diploma in business and office practice, business administration, public administration, commerce, public works or related field. (civil engineering is considered as a related field)
- At least 4 years of administrative work, preferably related in supply chain, business administration or public works operations. Technical background being an asset.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills; proven ability in establishing effective internal work relationships at all levels;
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications;
- Strong organizational capacities.
- Possession of a valid driving license
- It’s desirable to have advanced training course in business, public works or supply chains and office practice

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Experience in construction material supply chain will be an asset

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

- Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $818.50; and monthly dependency allowance $18.65 and Group Medical Insurance GMI $12.00.
- Contract Duration: Six months. Extension is subject to continued need, availability of funds and satisfactory service.
- Leave: 2.5 per month
- Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
- Employment for this post might be either on full-time or part-time basis based on the needs. Announcing this modality does not mean that it would definitely be used. It would rather give the Agency the flexibility to use both full time and part time contracts based on the work needs and the personal circumstances or preferences of the staff member.
- A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through
secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.

EQUIVALENCY

When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of Human Resources; in consultation with the Director of UNRWA Operations, Gaza may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.

NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
