Field Coordinator

Gaza Culture & Development Group

The Gaza Culture and Development Group (GCDG) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization established in 1990 by a group of Palestinian intellectuals aiming at promoting cultural awareness for all categories of the society. The association works on achieving sustainable development to achieve a better and sustainable future for all. It is officially registered with the Palestinian Ministry of Interior under No. 7288 since 2003.



Position overview

Under the responsibility of the project Coordinator the field coordinator is responsible for Activities Implementation and Monitoring. He/she engages in a constant monitoring of the context of intervention, population needs & other actors’ responses provision, he/she ensures a close supervision of the project field workers and emphasizes positive cooperation attitudes among all profiles so that the project actions are coherent with the organization strategy and in lines with developmental best practices.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

       ▪  A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in, project management, social Science or any other related field.
       ▪  Fluent English & Arabic.
       ▪ Essential working experience in humanitarian response and at minimum 3 years in a relevant position.
       ▪ Excellent knowledge of development best practices and community engagement
       ▪ Experience in working with local authorities and partners
       ▪ Strong capacities of evaluation, analysis, synthesis and communication
       ▪ Experience in the writing of donor’s reports and proposals.
       ▪ Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel and Internet)
       ▪ Good communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships
       ▪ Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
       ▪ Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
       ▪ Team-management and leadership skills


Main responsibilities and tasks:

Project management & development

       ▪ Ensures a daily monitoring of the Gaza strip context and its population (context, question of      access, humanitarian & development needs, presence and actions of local & international actors, etc.)
       ▪ Initiates and activates contacts with relevant actors and/or partners (local Authorities, Universities, NGOs, etc.)
       ▪ Gives relevant briefings and directions to GCDG field workers, in line with GCDG strategic plan & projects proposals.
       ▪ Contributes to needs assessments, project design, implementation and monitoring & evaluation.
       ▪ Facilitates the communication and coordination with local partners, institutions & Ministries.
       ▪ Identify partners, local and international (development organization, people with disability organization, etc.) to further develop project in Gaza.
       ▪ Facilitate and support the planning of community initiatives and campaigns and follow up on their implementation to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and compliance.
       ▪ Coordinate logistical support and ensure that the planned activities are carried out effectively and in timely manner.
       ▪ Follow-up on the timeliness, accuracy, and quality of deliverables.
       ▪ Prepare for workshops and meetings, prepare minutes and reports accordingly, and follow up on the results with all concerned parties.
       ▪ Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on all activities and prepare analytical reports accordingly.
       ▪ Support the preparation of success stories, press releases, and other documents, as required.
       ▪ Prepare and provide accurate information on the various activities in timely manner, as per the project M&E plan.


Other Requirements/Skills


       ▪ Ability to work under pressure in an unstable and changing environment
       ▪ Ability to manage priorities effectively
       ▪ Good writing skills in writing and designing proposals and good communication skills
       ▪ Reactivity, anticipation, adaptability, capacity to take initiatives
       ▪ Excellent communication skills are essential to ensure cohesion with other programs and partner staff skills are primordial.
       ▪ Good skills in organization, co-ordination and the transfer of knowledge are essential. The person must be able to work independently and without constant supervision.
       ▪ Ability to live and work in a difficult security context and willingness to accept and abide with the organization security protocols.


Conditions

       ▪ Job Title: Field Coordinator.
       ▪ The position is based in Gaza strip.
       ▪ Contract Duration: 6 months
       ▪ Working Hours: Standard office working hours from Sunday to Thursday.
